Attention to Detail 7 of 10

Attention to Detail
7 to 10
When you double-check your calculations for a math problem or cite source carefully in a research paper, you’re paying close attention to detail. That skill comes in handy in any workplace, whether you maintain a database, keep a log of the hours you spend with clients or write e-mails.
John Wooden, UCLA’s former great basketball coach who lead his team to ten consecutive national championships, was asked what he attributed his success to. Among a number of things, he mentioned that paying attention to details was one of the most important qualities for successful coaching and for high achievement in any worthwhile pursuit. He even paid attention to how his players would lace up and tie their shoe strings. If they didn’t tie them correctly, he would teach them how.
Details may be small things but from small things come great thing; therefore, pay attention to details and you will experience substantial progress in your overall educational attainment.

Exam Day: Survival Tips ... Part 3

Exam Day: Survival Tips

Test-Taking
Part 3

 Identify Key Words
This helps you focus on the main idea of challenging questions.

Rephrase difficult questions.
To understand questions better, rewrite them in your own words. Be careful not to change the meaning.

Organize Your Thoughts Before You Write.
Take time to organize your responses to short- answer and essay questions. You’ll reduce the time you need to revise.

Write neatly.
Be sure you don’t lose points on answers the teacher can’t read.

Use all the time you’re given. If you finish early, don’t leave. Use extra time

“When an archer misses the amrk, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim improve yourself.”
-Gilbert Arland

Accept your mistakes. Always look at yourself and see what you can do to improve yourself. What you can do to reach your goal. In basketball when you take a shot and you miss, its not the fault of the hoop, but yours. Maybe you could have bent your knees a little more or used your wrist more. Look at the mistakes you made accept them and improve them.

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”
-Woodrow Wilson

Woodrow Wilson does not mean literally fight for something, as in attack but as in strike for it, prove it. Fight for what will make you successful, what will make a change. Make your fight worth something, don’t go around fighting for something that is not going to get you anywhere. Strike for success the best and accomplish it (fight for it). An example of this quote can be if my teacher says to the entire class you will need to study 2 days in order to pass the test, I will study 3 days, I will fight to pass that test. Fight for something that is right, not the bad.
(He is fighting to make it to the base, and win)

“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.”
-Margret Thatcher

You should always try hard to discipline yourself to make the right choices. As you discipline yourself to make better choices you will gain a feeling of satisfaction, and earn pride. Nothing will feel better that knowing you are making the right decisions. Disciplining yourself to know what is right and make is the right decisions is like when you first learn a dance routine at first it is all over the place but as you practice it and discipline your mistakes it starts to look better. Not only that but you gain a satisfaction and pride in what you do.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
-Thomas Carlyle

A man without a goal and a ship without a rudder, have no future, they have no direction. Just like the rudder, a goal takes you into a certain direction, and accomplishes you to get to your destination. Your goals motivate you to go somewhere in life, without a goal a man will be lost where do you go? What do you do? If the ship wants to get to Hawaii, but has no rudder, it will never get there. A rudder takes control just like a goal takes control of your destination in life. Always have a goal in mind to not lose your way.

Goals
“In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are.”
-Arnold Glasgow

Glasgow is comparing life as football, your goal as the goal post. Without a goal you can’t go far. You push yourself to keep going in life, when you remind yourself your goal. Life without a goal is like running with no finish line. You will jeep running forever without reaching a goal. With a goal set you motivated yourself to do your best to achieve it. Always jeep your goal in mind in order to achieve it and achieve it as fast as you can.

“Success is dependent on effort.”

    -Sophocles, Greek dramatist

Success will lead you far in life, but you cannot be successful without effort. Everything you want to accomplish not only success depends on your effort. The effort to be someone in life, to prove others wrong, all the effort will lead you to success. If you want to achieve good grades, you need to put in effort! If you don’t put effort into your grades no one else will and your grades will suffer.  Put in effort in everything you do to become successful.

“Improvement begins with I.”
-Anon

There is more to this quote than what you see, the obvious. No one can improve you; it’s all a process of yourself. You are the only one who can motivate yourself to do better, to improve your life. An example can be when you want to improve to a higher position in your job; no one can make you work hard so you can accomplish your goal. If I was in that position I would have to do it on my own, I would have to overcome all the steps there is in order to improve MYSELF. I am the only one in control of my life, so if I want to improve myself , I have to take the steps necessary, no one else but me, myself , and I. It all beings with yourself.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 7

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 7
Part 1

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

Teens should never get too busy living to take time to renew themselves. When teens “sharpen the saw” they are keeping their personal self sharp so that they can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of life- body, mind, heart, and soul.
1.     Body. Eat wholesome foods, fruits, vegetables, legumes. Avoid illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol, tobacco products, tattooing. Exercise regularly and effectively. Get plenty of rest at night. Get to bed early at night and get up early each morning. “Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
2.     Mind. Think positively. Read. Study. Think. Analyze. Seek to read a good book each month. Then each week. Ask intelligent questions. Observe. Develop your mind through positive “self-talk.”

So often, in our quest to be more popular and to be part of the “in-group,” we lose sight of things that are far more important.”
-By Sean Covey

People always seem to lose track of where they came from, who they are, and what is their purpose. We always seem to choose what is popular to “fit in” than what is really important. Many people lose sight of the importance when following their dreams, to achieve them faster, to fit in, in that world of their dreams. You could still achieve your dreams without losing sight of the importance. One great example is when a person becomes famous; they lose sight of their roots, of who helped them out. They usually ignore the people who they once enjoyed their childhood, special moments with. Never lose the sight in what really matters just to fit in. If you have to lose importance to fit in, that is the wrong decision, the wrong crowd.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 2

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind

If teens aren’t clear about where they want to end up in life, about their values, goals, and what they stand for , they will wander, waste time, and be tossed to and fro by the opinions of others. Help your teen create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and direct and guide his decision-making process.

“Keep your eyes on the prize.” Determine your desired prize and don’t quit until you have realized the achievement of your prize. Then set another prize, another goal or desire that you would really like to achieve. Begin with the achievement of your prize in mind. Visualize and then realize. Start by having a target in mind; know where you are going.
One prize or goal you definitely need to establish for yourself is the prize of an honorable graduation from high school- that you will receive your diploma honestly and with integrity—that you earned it with perfect honesty.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 1 .

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 1
(by Sean Covey but modified)
Habit 1: Be Proactive.
Being proactive is the key to unlocking the other habits. Help your teen take control and responsibility for her life. Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don’t blame others for their own actions or feelings. Proactive people realize that the ball is in their court, that they are the captain of their own ship; that they are in control, control of their decisions, thoughts, choices, decisions, goals, actions, and priorities. Proactive people are self-starters; they don’t wait to be told what to do, they press forward with enthusiasm toward the achievement of their assignments, their duties, their responsibilities, their obligations. Choosing to do what is right is a proactive decision. Obey the rules. Obey the law. Obey the coach. Obey the school polices. Obey your parents. Obey with exactness, and great things will come to you. Be Proactive and take the initiative.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

7 HABITS OF Highly Successful Teens
By Sean Covey

For teens, life is not a playground, it’s a jungle. And, being the parent of a teenager isn’t any walk in the park, either. In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, author Sean Covey attempts to provide “A compass to help teens and their parents navigate the problems they encounter daily.”
How will they deal with peer pressure? Motivation? Success or lack thereof? The life of a teenager is full of tough issues and life-changing decisions. As a parent, you are responsible to help them learn the principles and ethics that will help them to reach their goals and live a successful life.
While it’s all well and good to tell kids how to live their lives, “teens watch what you do more than they listen to what you say,” Covey says. So practice what you preach. Your example can be very influential.
Covey himself has done well by following a parent’s example. His dad, Stephen Covey, wrote the book The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, which sold over 15 million copies. Sean’s a chip off the block, and no slacker. His own book has rung in a more than respectable 2 million copies sold. Here are his seven habits, and some ideas for helping your teen understand and apply them :

Seek to do good and you will find that happiness will run after you.”
      -James Freeman Clarke

Doing good is helping others, being kind, being respectful, and following rules. Choosing the right is seeking to doing good. If you choose the right you will be happy and feel satisfied. Choosing the wrong will get you into bad places and will always be in the back of your head making you feel horrible. For example if you help an elder cross the street or even volunteer to make a difference in your community in return you will get a feeling of kindness and satisfaction. When you seek to do good only good things will come in your future. Always seek for the good for a better life.

Work Together Part 1 . .

  Work Together
                                  Part 1

I can and will work as part of the team as long as everyone in the team is willing to do his work. I don’t like having to pick up slack, but I will if I know that my grade will be harmed otherwise. My greatest academic success was in my first semester when I had to ever been assigned and I was a little scared. Also, it was the first paper where they were like, here you go, just write about something. I had to argue in favor of or against something, but it could be anything from the sky is blue to hypnotism. I wrote mine on hypnotism. I worked on this paper for weeks and weeks. Every night I would be doing research or writing. I put so much effort into this paper. It ended up being just under 12 pages but it was fill on information. I turned it in and when I got it back a week or so later, I had received the first A+ of my college career. All my hard work paid off because I got the grade I deserved. I was really happy and proud of myself.
