“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”
-Peter F. Drucker

In many occasions we start doing things that seem acceptable to us because we are afraid to stand out. Don’t make that mistake again, always start with what is right. Starting with what is right will help you succeed better and faster than to start with what is acceptable. When starting in a new school with no friends, often teenagers do what is acceptable to others to fit in. NO! Always start with what is right because in the end that crowd you desired to fit in will not be there. Another example is when turning in an assignment always do what is right, put all your effort into it and don’t turn it in late because it is acceptable, because later in life you will not be able to get rid of that bad habit.

“Education is a marathon-not a sprint “.
-Anon
Education is the power given to you that no other individual can take away from you. With education anything is possible. Never rush your education because you will not get anything from it. Education benefits you, so make sure you are taking it seriously. An example of rushing your education can be when cheating on a test or copying, you are not learning anything you are doing it to finish fast. At the end you have no knowledge and it was all a waste of time. Never make the mistake of cheating yourself out of your education.

“To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage.”
-Confucius
I agree with Confucius because this statement shows a lot of you to the world. In any situation or decisions it is easy to acknowledge something but it is hard to actually make a change and stand up for something. In my opinion you should always stand up for what you believe is right. It takes a lot of courage to face something, but it shows your courage it shows your willingness to make a change occur. When you see someone getting bullied at school you know it is wrong, and to step up and stop it would be the right thing and that will take courage, not stopping it will show your need of courage, and other bad qualities.

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”
-Woodrow Wilson

Woodrow Wilson does not mean literally fight for something, as in attack but as in strike for it, prove it. Fight for what will make you successful, what will make a change. Make your fight worth something, don’t go around fighting for something that is not going to get you anywhere. Strike for success the best and accomplish it (fight for it). An example of this quote can be if my teacher says to the entire class you will need to study 2 days in order to pass the test, I will study 3 days, I will fight to pass that test. Fight for something that is right, not the bad.
(He is fighting to make it to the base, and win)

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You? Part 4

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?
Part 4 of 4

 Emphasis on the Written Word
Most of the communication, as well as the course work, in distance-learning classes is written. That’s a plus, because the focus on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer—and strong writing skills are essential to academic success. However, if writing is a serious weakness for you, virtual learning may not be the best educational option until you improve your skills. Yes, most of distance education is the written word; therefore, you need to be a good reader, love to read, and love writing also. Most of your assignments will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship needs to be excellent, spelling great, sentence structure above average, vocabulary extraordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your Internet communications at home isn’t working, you can’t do online education from home and will need to go to someplace where you do have access to the Internet.

Decide Whether It’s Right for You
Distance education isn’t right for everyone, but it just might be for you. You really should seek it out and give it a try. You never know until you try. You might even fall in love with distance education. While distance education may be the perfect alternative for some students, it’s not right choice for everyone. So carefully consider your unique needs and interests and give distance education a try; then decide if it is right for you.

“You must live in the present to secure your future.”

-Reverend Robert Craig

Leave the past in the past, and the future in the future focus on what you are doing NOW. Worrying about the past or the future is not going to get you anywhere. You have to focus and live in the present so your future will not be like your past. If you are not living in the present you don’t know what your future will be like. Your future is made of the decisions and actions you take in the present so live it! For example, if I have a game today and I am too busy worried about my past game, my performance will not be as great because I don’t have my focus on it.

Selecting Your Courses
Part 6
Success in AP can also help you in other ways. AP helps you stand out in the admission process and offers the opportunity to learn from some of the most inspiring teachers in the world. Learn more about the AP Program.

For More Help in Choosing Courses

Use College Search to look up a specific college’s academic requirement to be sure you are on track to attend the college of your choice.
If you have concerns about your class schedule or progress in school, set up a meeting with your school counselor, teacher or adviser. There are many resources to help you with this process, and with achieving your personal, college and career goals. Without goals, you meander all sorts of directions. Goals give you purpose, direction, enthusiasm, and passion for that which you really desire. Define your goals deliberately, evaluate your goals often and make changes as necessary, work hard to achieve your goals, and continue working hard until you actually do reach your goals.

Selecting Your Courses . . . Part 1

Selecting Your Courses

Recommended Classes for College Success
Part 1

http://ww.collegeboard.com/student/plan/hgh-school/33.html

The academic rigor of your high school courses is an important factor in the college admission process. College admission officers see your high school course schedule as a blueprint of your education. They’re looking for a solid foundation of learning that you can build on in college.
To create that foundation, take at least five solid academic classes every semester. Start with the basics and then move on to advanced courses. Challenging yourself is part of what makes school fun; but you need a firm grasp of the fundamentals before going on to more advanced work.

Goals
“In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are.”
-Arnold Glasgow

Glasgow is comparing life as football, your goal as the goal post. Without a goal you can’t go far. You push yourself to keep going in life, when you remind yourself your goal. Life without a goal is like running with no finish line. You will jeep running forever without reaching a goal. With a goal set you motivated yourself to do your best to achieve it. Always jeep your goal in mind in order to achieve it and achieve it as fast as you can.

Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices.”

-Albert A. Montapert

Every decision that you make has a consequence whether it is positive or negative. You live your consequences there is no way to escape them, be wise in your choices. If you decide to go out to the movies and you do not study for your test, your consequence will be you will not pass your test. There is nothing you can do anymore, you can’t change the past or relive the moment, life goes on and you live your consequence.  No matter what you decide, you will not escape the consequence that comes with it, you can never change things.

“Improvement begins with I.”
-Anon

There is more to this quote than what you see, the obvious. No one can improve you; it’s all a process of yourself. You are the only one who can motivate yourself to do better, to improve your life. An example can be when you want to improve to a higher position in your job; no one can make you work hard so you can accomplish your goal. If I was in that position I would have to do it on my own, I would have to overcome all the steps there is in order to improve MYSELF. I am the only one in control of my life, so if I want to improve myself , I have to take the steps necessary, no one else but me, myself , and I. It all beings with yourself.

“The time is always right to do what is right.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

This statement can be viewed in many different ways. I view it as it is always time to do what is right. I also view is as for good deeds there will never be a wrong time. The good is always welcomed at any time. You cannot put a time for good things. For example to help someone is a test, or even stand up for what you believe is right and will help others like Martin Luther King Jr. there is never a wrong timing.

Successful Students 3-4

Successful Students
       3-4
3... ask questions. Successful students ask questions to provide the quickest route between ignorance and knowledge. In addition to securing knowledge you seek, asking questions has at least two other extremely important benefits. The process helps you pay attention to you! Think about it. If you want something, go after it. Get the answer now, or fail a question later. There are no foolish questions, only foolish silence. It’s your choice.

4 ... learn that a student professor make a team. Most instructors want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same- goals in short, your teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable player on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up losing season. Be a team player!

“I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.”
          Ernest Hemingway

This statement should be a statement to take by example. Moral: concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character. You will know when you make the right choices because you will have a good feeling at the end. On the other side when you make bad choices you will end up with a bad feeling. Your morality of good or bad behavior is what helps you determine the right and wrong. Always be careful in the choices you make to avoid the bad horrible feeling.

Successful Students 1-2

Successful Students
1-2
Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students…..
1…… are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it! Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grades, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing the study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costa one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.
2…. Have educational goals. Successful students have legitimate goals and are motivated by what they represent in terms of career aspirations and life’s desires.
Ask yourself these questions: What am I doing here?  Why have I chosen to be sitting here now? Is there some better place I could be? What does my presence here mean to me? Answers to these questions represent your “Hot Buttons” and are, without a doubt, the most important factors in your success as a college student. If your educational goals are truly yours, not someone else’s, they will motivate a vital and positive academic attitude. If you are familiar with what these hot buttons represent and refer to them often, especially when you tire of being a students, nothing can stop you; if you aren’t and don’t, everything can and will!

“My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure.”
                     -Alfred, Lord Tennyson

This statement may be very inspiring and heartwarming for some. A part of this statement is when you do things and make choices with a pure heart, it is worth way more. Another part is the strength that motivates someone, if ten people have strength but there heart is not pure, but filled with bad one single person’s strength with a heart that is pure makes up the strength of the ten. Everything done with a pure heart will always overcome the bad.

“There is no set path, just follow your heart.”
          -Anon

This statement is a true, proven statement. You don’t have a set destiny to live. The choices in life you make lead your path. Follow your heart, do as you please. Do not let things hold you back. Nothing is set or guaranteed in life so just follow you heart.  Don’t let others choose your path let you and what makes you happy create your path. Enjoy life and the moment because nothing is set.
