Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement
“Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or women seek not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind.
-   B.C. Forbes

Honesty is one of the most important parts of character and one of the ones that define you the most. An honest person doesn’t try to avoid things they face them with the truth no matter how harsh it is. When you are honest you portray a better quality of yourself which people will see and judge you on. Who doesn’t like an honest person? An example of this great statement is when you find something valuable, an honest person does not keep it they look for the owner and return it. An honesty person is always at peace because they have nothing to hide or feel guilty of.

You are being honest when you .  .

·        Explain the real reason you didn’t turn in your homework
·        Keep your eyes on your own paper
·        Clean up your room after making a promise
·        Give the cashier the extra money she gave you by mistake
·        Write a report in your own words instead of  copying
·        Admit you made the mistake
·        Keep a friend’s secret

“If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.”
-Marcus Aurelius

Always follow the right, and be truthful in everything you do or say. You should be truthful, because with untruthful things said and done there always individuals who’s feelings get hurt. For example in high school there are always rumors, and they spread with people who are untruthful. This is where statement comes in is if students in high school would follow this, there will not be rumors or people’s feelings being hurt. Be truthful with everything!

Man Returns Stolen Cash

            Man Returns Stolen Cash

Summary: A man had stolen money from a Sears in Seattle, Washington and returned 60 years later to return the money he had stolen with interests. The man was caught on camera, but Sears will not release the footage.
Reflection: The man made a wrong decision 60 years ago, and had been living in guilt ever since. This is a great example, of how with choosing the wrong come negative consequences. You will live with the regret for the rest of your life, or until you do something to change it like the man did. He’s conscience would not let him live in peace until he paid back that money he took with no permission.  Always choose the right because with choosing the wrong only, negative things will result.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 7, part 2

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 7
Part 2
 Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

3. Heart: Always do what is right so your heart, your conscience, will feel peaceful. When you do wrong, your conscience will prick you and create regretful sensations within your heart. When you do what you honestly feel, you won’t have any regrets. Your heart is your internal compass – it gives you direction and discernment. Just like a magnetic compass gives directions, even true north, your personal compass, your heart, will point you in the true north, the exact directions and paths you need to trod.
4.  Soul: Study scripture and other sacred literature daily. In other words, feed your spirit because your spirit needs spiritual food just like your physical body needs temporal food to survive. Pondering, meditating, and reflecting are excellent Soul- sharpening activities. Try writing your thoughts, feelings, aspirations, concerns, and decisions in a diary or journal. Writing helps you focus and make good decisions.
Get into the habit of daily improving your body (physical fitness), your mind, your heart, and your soul.
